Installation
You should consider installing hardwood flooring a major remodeling project. As with any major remodeling project, if you plan to live in your home during the remodel, you should anticipate how the installation would affect your lifestyle.
Installing Engineered Flooring
When it comes to installing hardwood floors in occupied homes, the installation of engineered flooring is much less intrusive, as it requires no sanding and no finishing. For most homes, laying an engineered hardwood floor takes less than a week.
Installing Solid Hardwood Flooring
The installation of a solid hardwood floor takes approximately one month, from start to finish, with an additional 30 days recommended to allow the floor to fully cure. The installation of the wood itself will take longer than with an engineered floor because we will first have to lay a sub-floor. Once we install the floor, we need to allow one to three weeks for the flooring to acclimate before we begin the sanding and finishing process. After the finish is applied, we recommend allowing it to cure for another 30 days before placing area rugs on the floor.
Installation Recommendations
If you plan to occupy your home during the installation of your hardwood floors, we highly recommend engineered flooring. If we are installing the new floors in an unoccupied home or new construction, you have more options. Please review our Minimum Acceptable JobSite Conditions page for full details on what you need to know about installing wood floors in a new home.
